Chris,

Thank you, I enjoyed your email very much.

I am indeed Calabrese (although half .Neapolitan.), both 2nd generation.
I remember my grandfather saying "Calabrese cabadost" (please excuse my
spelling), which means "The Calabrese are hard-headed". I take no offense.

Despite my southern roots, I love the north. Parmigiano Reggiano, prosciutto di Parma,
all that salumi; what's not to love? In the south we have tripe.

While volatile, I'm told I can also be very sweet. Smart? I'm not so sure.

Best regards,

Lou Iorio

I suspected that you were volatile but not and idiot, and, agree that there is some truth in humour.

The reasons, the small community I am in has many Italian descendants, the North does not like the South. And some of the south dislikes the Island south. Could never figure it out when I was a kid, but did later. Now the Iorio family here I think as south Italians and also Calabreze. This one lady that I know is very volatile, her sister is sweet. Both smart.

Cheers, hope to see more of your writing

Chris

Actually, no, I did not think "Lord Captain Commander" was an actual title.
I'm volatile, but I'm not an idiot.

There is, however, some truth to all humor. There must be a reason for this
"title" that suggests the owner has some power.

I offered previously to resign from OOoAuthors, and Jean has kindly suggested
(offline) that I do so. I shall.

Your confrontational style of writing is too disruptive at
OOoAuthors; it may not be sure a problem at Docs.

You seemed to seriously think that "Lord Captain Commander" was an actual title and position, and that it supported the conclusion that Daniel's word was not to be questioned. Even if I didn't know what little I do about OpenOffice.org's governance, I think that title would strike me as hyperbole, even if I didn't catch the joke.

Jean,

I have an amazing sense of humor. Indeed, I would be very interested to know what makes you think I don't. How would I know that Chad was joking (or wrong)?

Best regards,

Lou

Lou, apparently you have no sense of humour. Chad was clearly
joking about the "Lord Captain Commander". Also, Chad is wrong
about "head of OOoAuthors"; Chad gets a lot of things wrong.

And if I can take just a bit more of your time - I'd like to thank

Daniel Carrera has served in many roles here at OpenOffice.org -
    he's the
head of OOoAuthors, the Lord Captain Commander of OpenOffice.org (ding)
(otherwise known as the Community Council Representative), has
    helped create
installers on operating systems he doesn't even use, and much, much
    more.
Daniel's efforts to promote and enhance OpenOffice.org have been too
    many to
mention, and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you Daniel!

I had not realized that there was a "head of OOoAuthors", let alone a "Lord Captain Commander" of anything. I thought we were a group of volunteers, with each opinions weighted equally. I see now that I was wrong. There is clearly a well-established chain of command here, and I will not bend to it. Had I known that Daniel was an authority not to be questioned ("the decision /is/ made", when of course he meant "the decision /has been/ made"), I would never have volunteered my time. I had hoped I could help, but I see now that I can't. Que lastima.

I still believe OpenOffice is a great product, and I will continue to use and support it, and help
where I can.

Best regards,

Lou
