Before I do any more graphics I'll wait for the dust to settle. I number the images in accordance with the figure numbers and it's a nightmare inserting some "in the middle" and having to re-number the rest.
It always frosts me when someone has to do a task like that manually, with a perfectly good computer sitting right there. If you like, I should be glad to look into automating the renumbering task.

IMO the details may be of sufficient general interest to "keep it on the list", but we can start a new thread. /tj
When I first started programming, 40 years ago, I used to have a sign on my
desk. It read, "People who think they know it all are especially annoying to those of us that do". I'm sure you are well meaning, but....

Hello Peter,

I am quite sure that TJ did not mean to criticize your technique to file the images, but maybe just offering to write a quick script to do a batch renaming of the figures (at least that's how I read it).

I read it as patronising, but then I've always been touchy and, having passed 70
I'm also grumpy by Act of Parliament :-) Writing a simple script would be a trivial task, but not relevant in this case.

Anyway, the only reason I am writing yet another email in this thread is because I really like the contents of the sign on your desk and I am afraid I
will have to steal it: you have been warned! :-)

You're more than welcome. The original is still in a trunk up in the rafters
somewhere, together with another one that reads, "Don't confuse me with the facts: my mind is made up". They both made "ice-breaking" amusements in their day.
