So, everything is OK when using 2.4.1? Nothing is broken or missing?

Hello Gary,

I am actually using the OOo3.0 snapshots (m22 at present) as OOo3.0
will introduce a new ODF version (1.2 instead of 1.0/1.1) and
therefore it makes sense to create the user guides with the new
format.
In practical terms, the only difference I have found is in the
Position page for numbered lists. You can take a look at chapter 3
where I have described the new options and how they compare with the
old options.
Actually, I forgot something important: in order to revise the OOo3.0
chapters you have to use OOo3.0 developer's snapshot otherwise you
will compromise all the numbered lists positions. Also, OOo3.0 allows
you to switch to the "book view" which is the best way to see the new
chapters.

With regards to the issues with OOo3.0, the major problem at present
is that OOo crashes when trying to anchor a frame with a figure to a
character. It would normally be a very minor thing but being this the
way we anchor figures in OOo it is a pretty serious issue for us :-).
I have also noticed some glitches with the styles taken from an
updated version of the template not being applied consistently. If I
manage to reproduce consistently this error I will file a bug.
For example, no matter how many times I set up the OOoFigure paragraph
style to be centrally aligned in the template, my documents still have
the figures left aligned even if I instruct OOo to apply the styles in
the template.

I have not noticed any other major issue yet.

Cheers,

Michele

That's why I prefer using the simpler 2-by-1 or 3-by-1 tables when formatting figures and captions. Especially because they work well with the rest of the publishing world, which is largely non-OOo. And they don't break or aren't broken...

After the third snapshot attempt, I eventually got a version 3 to work w/o causing problems by ruining older files on 2.3.1 or 2.4.1. But, I still notice corrupted files when using version 3. But again, I don't use 3 for that reason. I did get the beta to import a PDF finally with the Windows version of the PDF add-on.
