What works best for files shared outside the OOo project isn't necessarily the same as what works best (overall) for files used within the project... which is, obviously, the priority at OOoAuthors.

What is best is ample description of the how and why of various methods--whether or not that we use any of them at OOoAuthors. And that includes how to author Wiki articles, too.

It would seem that those functions that work without bugs and all are those that would be the most reliable to use in practice. Conversely, those functions that break easily (or are hard to maintain) should be those to avoid using if reliability is important.

We're talking about two different things here.

I was talking specifically about what's in our template and what we use for authoring our user guides.

You're talking about a wider topic: what we *discuss* in the user guides. Yes, those discussions should cover the pros and cons of different methods, and in some cases include instructions and examples.

The issues around anchoring graphics should probably go into the chapter on using graphics in Writer (WG Ch8). If Michele hasn't already included that info, perhaps you'd like to draft something suitable?
