is new to me. Once upon a time (back around 2.0), Writer would delete
an active paragraph style without complaint, and the text would revert
to "Default" style. List styles may be less accommodating.
Michele is talking about list styles, not paragraph styles. Perhaps they
behave differently?

I checked in 2.4.1, and one removal method works for both kinds of
styles. Use the template organizer to move (not copy) the unwanted
style to a blank document, which can then be discarded. What happens to
the text, I don't know. /tj
