Since I've used many computers for more than 15 years and I've managed
and fixed thousands that include IBM compatible, workstation, and mac,
I know many things when I face computers or sound them. Of course I
don't know everything, nor about hardware of professional server
machine, though.

Are the "slow" documents in English, or are they your translated ones?
If translated, that opens many possibilities for bottlenecks: fonts and
styles, in particular.
There is new code in 3.2 for ClearType fonts. You might check if you use
only those types. (Or, that you /aren't/ using them :-/ )
