It bears mentioning that autofs pays no attention to /etc/nsswitch.conf.
If it did, you'd have a hard time mixing NIS maps with all of the other
map types that autofs supports. Ick.
The strange auto.master behavior is all ironed out in our development
tree, by the way. I still owe Jeremy an updated set of patches for v4.
