No, I didn't - I don't really use avicap, I just fired it up, recorded a short movie and exited. Avirec is my tool of choice.
avirec and cron or at, I suspect?
Hi,
Exactly, plus some xawtv utils and some scripts (although after reading the docs you've written about avicap + nvram-wakeup I'm having seconds thoughts about it).
compilation problems - usually there are some small ones). I don't use avirec on regular basis because of the audio/video drift problem which starts to become obvious in longer recordings (that was true for the older versions - I didn't have the time to check it in the current one).
*Fixed* !!!
Thanks to the bug-report of another avirec user (well, the only other avirec user I've known....)
avirec and avicap now write with perfect sync, even for long recordings.
BUT:
For unknown reasons, mencoder doesn't like it - if you re-encode avirec/avicap files with mencoder, the sync gets broken
But when just playing these files with mplayer/aviplay, the sync is fine.
To re-encode avirec/avicap files, I recommend avidemux, that seems to work nicely for me, and it keeps the sync
I haven't tested transcode yet for this.
Do you use other recording tools like nvrec, vcr, dvr, whatever, what are your experiences with other rec. tools etc?
I usually used The Other OS for it (at least till now). If you say the sync is now working perfectly with recording I will start testing it... I will have a look how it works with my video editors as well.
OK, now I'm registered (under a different email address, so don't be surprised).Thank's for the cvsroot tarball link - I'll use it next time I have problems with avifile package. A 'nightly diff' against last release tag would probably be more convenient, but that's probably too much to ask the sf team for.
I can do that once in a while - at present, I need a second user to test some things from time to time ;-)
Regarding your question in the other email - no, I'm not subscribed to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Test avirec's working A/V-sync, and then maybe you want to use avirec/avicap more often ;-)
And if you then might decide to help us as a 'beta-tester', you should better read the list - there's not much traffic there anyway - if not, I'll send you the important postings/patches ;-)
