Thank you so much for everyone's help! Katopz, the files you attached did work. The problem I have is that I'm working with a 3D designer and I'm not sure how to translate what I see in the .dae into clear instructions or rules for him when he's building the artwork and exporting it. I know you guys said make it as simple as possible, but are there specific rules or features that are unsupported which would make sense when describing to a 3D artist? Also, this artist is using Maya instead of Blender.
