Not really.
But there is a little slowdown compared to best possible speed if the
plane would be scale 1 on screen and you would pass a bmd say 100%
width of the plane if repeat is set to .5...
or 1/8 of the width of the plane at the same setting.
Best speed is achieved when flash do not need to resize source image
too much. Same rule with or without tiling.
Personnaly I allways use sizes like 64x64, 128x128, 256x256 etc and
try from larger to smaller to find the best balance between speed and
look.
