Rob thanks for the pointer, I really appreciate it. One question since I don't have a spare moment to try it yet and I'm going to be up all night... Will "providing a clipping window" remove the dependencies on the stage? My issue is that I want to have an area (or window) and control all the 3d inside it based on it's own parameters. When I used the default stage-based stuff I had things that were scaling up/down based on the size of the browser window/swf. I can't have that since the 3d elements are used in 2d layouts.
