Hi all,

There seems to be a lot of confusion about getting 3D models into Away3D
with regards to what format, which application, what settings etc...

Are there concrete ways of

   1. converting a 3D Max file to a format Away3D supports with and without
   textures?
   2. converting a Maya file to a format Away3D supports with and without
   textures?
   3. converting a Blender file to a format Away3D supports with and without
   textures?

At the moment, I just say to the 3D graphics designer, here's a test
application (SWF) it accepts a file called "model.dae or model.md2" and tell
him / her to keep exporting their models till it displays correctly in the
SWF all I know is export triangles if there is an option for it and keep
image paths relative (no paths just file name).

Now with the release Away3D 4.x the need for easy access to 3D models has
become more important than ever.

So my questions are:

   1. Is there going to be anything concrete for the industry standard
   applications Max, Maya and Blender?
   2. Is there something already?
   3. What's on the horizon?
   4. Will there be plugins for the applications to simplify this process?
   5. Will prefab become the universal conversion tool?
   6. Will models with missing textures in x format be possible to load up
and default to wire frame? or must they be corrected via prefab?

If there are processes already available, I will be more than happy to write
something up on my site for a step by step guide on how to do this for all
to read when they need to use the process.

Thanks

D

PS.
Away3D 4.0 Alpha is awesome, I just got a 16meg obj model to display and it
don't even break a sweat, 60fps all the way...
This reminds me of my transition from spectrum 128k to booting up my first
Amiga game (xenon 2 megablast) lol
GJ guys.
