The only format that is currently compatible with the Broomstick (4.0) alpha and that supports bones animation is MD5.
Eventually, we will have COLLADA support and also the "native" Away3D format AWD (second generation) supports bones animation as well, but is currently not ready for production use. We will provide COLLADA as a service to those who want to use it, but we strongly recommend that you stay away from it, because it has so many issues (that I have explained numerous times on this list, and will soon write a blog post about.)
