I think that's a good question... I've heard from others that it seems to resemble Quechua. The people in Muylaque and the surrounding region use it exclusively. When I asked what it means, they said that it's just for making salutations but has no other meaning. I imagine originally it had to have meant something... Interestingly no other strong evidence of Quechua lexicon in speech (though there are a couple exceptions). As for possible Quechua roots, this seems dubious as the names of surrounding mountains, rivers, and places all are Aymara as far as I can tell... I wonder if anyone has any ideas -
