Greg, The draft card shows he didn'tread or write, just his mark, so that means that depending on what question was asked the answered could vary. I've often seen different middle name or mother maiden names given for the same person. The Social Security entry for the Manuel Dias that died in 1964 is shown as Diaz, where the California database is Dias.
