Greg,

So the grandparents divorced? Then he married Pauline?

I'll look for more on this. I have a similar stuation in my family. My
grandmother's sister had a boy hit by a car and killed in San Antonio in 1935.
When I

traveled there to meet my great aunt , the family gave me his photo album. They
didn't know what to do with it, but couldn't just throw it out, so I have it
now.

On the Victorino and Quiteria marriage, you'll see it was January 1888, and
Manuel was born in October. I believe they are his natural parents.

I'm looking forward to reading the book, many people have recommended it to me.

  Thank again,

One person suggested that Falk had been derived from Falco or Falcoa?

She was poor soul, her first child (not with Manuel) was killed at age 4 or 5
by a car in the street in front of her house chasing a ball.
The story goes on to say she was holding his dead body in her arms screaming,
his head was said to crushed.
She spent the rest of her life an alcoholic who lived near East 14th Street
San Leandro. She did live to be over 90.....

Eric, the ancestry you send me has left me in a whirlwind. I have trying to
make sense of Victorino’s marriage to
Quitéria Tomásia do Coração de Jesus in 1888, that was the same year my
grandfather was born?
Wondering why my grandfathers birth doesn’t show. Then 20 years later
Victorino put him on the ship.
Or if Victorinos first wife was his mother was actually? That would make him
full brother/sister of Francisca

I have a copy of my fathers birth certificate, I found it the same time I
found my grandfather immigration card.
During the heat of filling out the certificate it shows my grandfathers name
as Manuel Victor Dias and the son (Alvin, my father) with the name Manuel
Victor Dias as well !!
BTW I just finished reading “The Undiscovered Island” by Darrell Kastin ....
would of read it non-stop but my vision gets blurred...

Thanks again for helping me making it real!

  Greg,

The information was put together mostly from Ancestry.com for shiplist and
censuses, from Vitalsearch for birth and death records, from the Gold Nugget
Library site for

city directories, and the NEPS site.

What I haven't found is much on Elsie Falk. The children she had with Manuel
show her last name as Rose. In the Alameda county area there are a few Elsie
Roses,

born in California, of Danish descent. The Elsie Falks found are also of
Danish background.

Another loose end is the sister Francisca mentioned on the shiplist. I'll get
back to you if I find more.

    Eric,
    Gracias por todo!!!!!!

I was looking at those ships logs and only recently had the Garcia name!!!!

Was the info from the EllisIsland.org site?

I also went crazy on the NEPS site recently ... tried a lot of name
combinations.... but obviously YOU have the magic touch my friend.

I saw the name Vitorino and it reminded me of my fathers middle name
Victor.

Tell me Eric.. where are you from and a little about your ancestors... por
favor.

I live in El Salvador now in the coffee mountains overlooking the Pacific.
We just finished our annual party for all of the employees of our community
with their children. 100 plus, the are so genuine and grateful.
My heart has always been open to all peoples and now I find I have a new
mission.
I am enamored by finding out WHY for my whole life I have love the sea,
Islands, volcanoes and believe it
or not earthquakes! ... I was born in San Francisco, lived in Los Anglers
and now El Salvador all earthquakes zones.

This is the key for me my friend.
If I find some cousins there I will share the info here

    Greg,

    Your lucky day!
I found Manuel Garcia Dias on a ship list coming from Faial to
Massachucetts 1909. It had fathers name, Victorino Dias Furtado. I took this to
the NEPS site for Faial and hunted around a while to find him in Feteiria. That
gave me the Praia do Almoxarife birthplace. So here is what appears to be the
