A couple of more questions.... The company that houses our Azores DNA Project is Family Tree DNA, not Ancestry.com. The coupon is for Family Tree DNA only.
Here's why. Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) is the oldest, the largest, and has the biggest database. They have good tools and support for admins as well as good customer support for customers. They have an annual DNA conference for admins with some of the big name geneticists to keep us educated. So that's why the DNA project is with them. Another question I'm getting.... Can it tell the ethnic origins? In a general sort of way. It can tell you if you are of European descent, African, Middle Eastern or Asian. It will give you the percentages of each. This part of Family Finder is still under development and you may see your results change a little bit as the population geneticists refine it further. It CANNOT distinguish between countries as in Spain or Portugal. Those are political boundaries. My DNA cannot tell if my mother chose to have me in California or Nebraska. Kind of the same thing.
