OK, correction!

ANYONE who has tested with Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) received a coupon with a
code. So if I run out of coupon (discount) codes, I will find a code for
you!

We have 92 Family Finder results in the Azores DNA Project so far. Sam K.
posted about her connection to Al Rose and others. I mentioned matching
Salli Souza. I think this may be the beginning of something really good! I
have 4 Family Finder tests at the lab right now so we'll see what those
results bring in addition to anything from this sale (and future sales).

Here's a question I received regarding Family Finder that others may be
wondering about as well:
Q: What happens if my ancestors were first cousins?
A: It kind of messes up the results. Your match will look stronger than it
really is.

Here's a chart of my dad's to illustrate.

Name - Total DNA - Relationship (4C1R = 4th cousin 1x removed)
Altino 191.21 2C
Dan 154.87 2C or 3C (possible double Port. line shared)
Jim 129.36 2C1R
Shirley 105.71 4C1R *11 Port. lines shared*
Tom 76.94 3C
Chas R. 62.94 4C1R
Chas C. 23.45 5C

Now, if you look at who my dad is matching, he shares the most DNA with
Altino and the least with Charles C (Chas C). With Altino, he shares 191.21
and with Chas C he shares 23.45. Then if you look at the relationship, you
see my dad is a 2nd cousin to Altino and the cousin level gets to be
further and further out to the 5th cousin level. Except with Shirley
(Allegre - of this list). My dad and Shirley share 105.71 in total DNA.
That should be around the 2nd or 3rd cousin level, but she's really a 4th
cousin, once removed on paper. That should be more like 60 or 70 something
in total DNA and it's not. Why? Because they share 11 Portuguese lines.
Some of them are too far back for this type of DNA testing but there's
probably a good portion of them still existing between my dad and Shirley
to goof up the suggested relation.
