Yes, I am on the West Coast - No. California to be exact in Truckee - No. shore of Lake Tahoe. I can find the linguica at Safeway, etal - but I had never heard of the Chourico - I've had Mexican Chorizo - which I am kinda assuming is like Chourico (?).
Thanks for the info - this all helps. ________________________________ From: Michelle <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, August 26, 2012 7:14 AM Subject: Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Kale Recipe If you're out on the West coast there is Mexican Chourico that you can pretty much find in any store (including 7-Eleven's). This Chourico has the consistency of ground beef & is good with eggs, nacos, stuffed clams & many Mexican dishes. Portuguese chourico & linquica are solid. You can order both & other Portuguese products from: www.melloschourico.com www.gasparssausage.com/gaschour.html as Cheri already mentioned. Gaspar's has great Morcela (blood sausage) too! They also sell the linquica in patty shape - great for linguica sandwiches. YUM...I'm getting hungry! www.famousfoods.com they sell a number of Portuguese products and some New England favorites. The chourico, linquica they sell is Gaspar's but sometimes you can find it for less here (on sale) than buying direct from Gaspar's. www.amarals.com/ They also sell Coffee Syrup & Hoo-Mee Chow Mein Mix for those of us that grew up with these back in New England. www.netosausage.com http://silvasausage.com - They are available in a lot of supermarkets but if you can't find it in your local market you can call them direct @ (408) 293-5437 & they'll ship some out to you. http://portuguesefoodsonline.com/ - they have a lot of Portuguese products: Meats; Chourico, Linguica, Morcelas, Farinheiras, Alheiras, Salpicao & even Presunto (YUM). They used to have stuffed clams but not sure if they still do. They also have Bacalhau, Polvo Portugues (octopus), Breads, Deserts, Oils, Portuguese Cheeses & more. I've purchased from all of the above & have been very happy with my purchases. http://www.amazon.com/Smoked-Linguica-Sausage-lb-Pkgs/dp/B00028LGAS - they have a smoked linguica but have not tried it yet. http://www.meathub.com/portuguese-linguica-pork-sausage-p/100047.htm - haven't tried their's either There may be more but that's all that I'm aware of.
