Hello DavidThe name of Belchior Baldaia's father father in the marriage record is indeed in error. The Carlos Machado Genealogias in the CCA site does correct that however at least to my satisfaction. These are my 8th g-grandparents and other than the fathers name being Gaspar rather than Joam everything else seems to be in order. This lineage actually goes back to a Lourenco do Rego who lived in the days of the Portuguese kings D. Afonso III and D. Sancho II, so within the dates of 1284 and and could be extrapolated to remote to the 1100's to a D. Egas Medes Gundar (not yet concretised).I have to go for now but let me know if you care to follow this up.Hermano Date: Tue, 7 May 2013 09:01:30 -0700 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Some Needed Translation Help
For fifteen years I've been trying to get my Rego Balaya lines back to the original Rego Baldayas of the 1500s with no success. My earliest record is a marriage of Belchoir Baldaya to Maria Franca from 1623 in the Lagoa (Rosario) section of the online "Direcao Regional da Cultura" site we're all familiar with. My only remaining option is maybe I'm reading the record incorrectly. Would someone be so kind as to take a look at the record and tell me what they see? I can read the other names but I'm unsure of the relationships - parents, godparents? The record is under Casamentos, 1594 - 1683, it's record number 0052, and it's on the lower half of the the page.
