One of my ancestors is Miguel do Monte. Miguel was born ca 1690 possibly
in Achadinha. He was married twice. First wife was Maria Furtada and the
second Maria da Costa. He had several children by both of them. Most were
born in Achada, though records point to his son, Miguel do Monte (my
ancestor) being born in Achadinha. I didn't find his baptismal in Achada,
so perhaps this is true.
Anyway, as I was going through the marriages for Achada. I came across
someone named Miguel do Monte. I got really excited thinking it was
someone related to my tree. However, this Miguel do Monte was the son of
Antonio do Monte and Agada Rapozo. This is the only do Monte that I've
found in Achada that wasn't directly connectly to my Miguel and his two
wives.
The Miguel do Monte, son of Antonio said he was baptized in Nordestinho. I
did a search in Nordestinho and found the baptismal in 1733. The
godparents were Manoel Pacheco, son of Bel_________ (Belchior?) Pacheco and
Thereza Corredor (?)--deceased, and Catherina de Faria, dau of Manoel
Rapozo and ______ Botelho.
I have a feeling my Miguel and Antonio might be related, perhaps brothers.
I have no proof of that. I do not have parentage on my Miguel do Monte and
I have not located Antonio and Agada's marriage record as yet. I haven't
found my Miguel do Monte's first marriage record yet.
Just curious if anyone has Antonio and Agada in their line and might be
able to provide some details or clues as to whether there is a connection
to my Miguel do Monte.
This is what I've put together so far on the children of Miguel do Monte
and his two wifes (my lines). I have found some marriages for the children
by the second wife, but not by the first wife as yet. (I do have some of
the descendants of these lines. Also, I'm not entirely sure of all the
surnames of their children as I found that they used a variety.)
