Mariante and Maritimo are interchangeable words that can be given the same meaning at the times (era) they were being used to describe a profession but, the word mariante present day "marujo" meaning sailor, man of the sea, man that navigates the Sea. While Maritimo could mean the same yet this word has a much broader range but it seemed to have replaced "mariante" for the occupation of sailors or fisherman but in most cases it meant "fisherman".
