Sometime the stories we get handed down are not always 100% accurate, but
have some substance. I am looking for Jose de Sousa Dourado, native of
Ponta Garca, that may have travelled abroad for work, possibly in 1853 and
1863, when his baptism shows that he was issued two certificates. I was and
still am questioning the story that he went to Australia, but perhaps he
went to Brazil. I am told he never married and had a sister by the name of
Jacinta. There are many Jose's and Jacinta' born to families with the
Sousa/Dourado name. This is why I can't link him to any family. Since he
never married and this one certificate showed up with two certifications, I
think this might be him.
