Marilyn,
I can't find any good links regarding the Portuguese in Australia in English or immigration records. The current Portuguese population in Australia is 55,000 it is heavily Madeiran and the Madeirans are recorded as the first wave of Portuguese immigrants to Australia. Although clearly some Azoreans immigrated to Australia they were in the minority, I know some went there I have some Family Finder matches there.
