I've been working with Dave on this for many years , off list. Every lead from the marriage record to Joe Hughes has been worked over endlessy. Every Cotta and Velma in the state on that time period has been looked at and dissmissed before.
I'm looking at a family connection to Belle and Herculeano Lopes, where she had lived for a time. He is easy to track with that name. His draft cards both show him from Santa Maria. Bell Lopes death record shows Vierra fathers name and Cotta as mothers maiden . However their son's marriage record shows her as Balbina Broga. Anyone have these names in their tree?
