Elaine, This is the technique I use when hunting through the Sao Miguel Passaportes: Scroll down the Concelho column in page 2, looking for the council of Povoacao. When you see one, check to see if the freguesia is Ribeira Quente. If it is, then check the person's name to see if it's your Maria Lima. It will go much, much faster that way than looking at every single Maria that left from the port of Ponta Delgada.
The U.S. Censuses asked for year of immigration. Although it may be off, it should give you a range to work with. She is mostly likely leaving the Azores and immigrating under the name of Maria da ______, without her last name, so don't discount those Marias who are listed as just first and middle name only.
