Louie's right, find all the US documents you can first. You may already have seen these, but Eva's marriage:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K82T-T77 has her father as "Manuel E. Gomes". Assuming that Eva's family was also located in Modesto, and that her father died there or thereabouts, then there are at least two possible leads for his death dates. Despite the discrepancy in the dates, I suspect these are for the same man : https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VPVR-YB3 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVKT-YZMZ <- this record includes a birth date https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=57631500 You can also search the newspapers for obits which may have more info. hope this is helpful, :) Linda On Monday, January 30, 2017 at 8:49:02 PM UTC-8, Caroline Gomes wrote: > > Hi all! > > I have not posted in a few years but have decided to dust off the family > history research and continue on. > > I am looking to follow the paternal line of my father-in-law, Frank Gomes, > who was born on March 1, 1911 in Watsonville, CA and died on October 22, > 1989 in Concord, CA.
