She didn't have to work. If she applied for her husband's she may have a

It's almost a $30 gamble though. But if it has that one piece of
information you are after, it is worth it.

You can also try the Social Security Application and Claims Index. That's a
newer database (been out about a couple of years) and it comes closer in
time than the SSDI. It's on Ancestry. If you don't have a subscription,
your local library probably has it.
