Seems to me that root HB (see also the double HBHB of Hos. 8:13) is a variant of GB, HB, XB, KB, QB גב, הב, חב, כב, קב and GP, XP, KP, QP גף, חף, כף, קף of a remarkable similarity to the English 'have', and 'give'.
