IMO, it has little to do with political correctness .


Numerous groups, from Aesthetic Realism (Eli Segal) to the International 
Healing Foundation (from Richard Cohen, a member of the Unification Church) 
have claimed to be able to change an individual's sexual orientation . However, 
there is no reliable data supporting the effectiveness of any of them.


All the evidence is anecdotal.


It was the American Psychiatric Association (the DSM- IV).
