Dear Friends,
Allah'u'Abha...
Does the "verses of God" include the Writings of the Bab too?
With much love,

Dear Larry  Here the verses of God doesn't mean necessarily the prayers, as `Abdu'l-Baha explains somewhere (if needed it will be found and posted) that the verses of God means all Writings of Baha'u'llah and they should be read (Talavat literally means reading, as Persian to Persian Dictionary of Mo'een defines) everyday.  Moreover, Baha'u'llah Himself says you should read what He has written to know what's His purpose.  In this case, we should know that OTLU (imperative for Talavat) doesn't mean just chanting prayers, but reading or chanting all Words of God.  As we know, the Bab and Baha'u'llah, while writing their Tablets would chant them melodiously.  But, it is not imperative.  As you know, Baha'u'llah says if you chant His Words with a sweet melody, even if you are alone in your home, the angels will take your melodious voice to all people and it will have a positive impact on their heart, even they themselves may not perceive at the time, but later the positive effects will be manifested.  So, we see that chanting the Words of God has several purposes.  Sorry to have elongated the reply.  Faruq
