I use all avenues to avoid using the Standard File dialog when it comes time to 
save a newly created file.

I also pretty much always want to preserve things like font choice for a new 
file that comes from an old one.

So I either tweak to Finder and do a copy or, more often, use the bbedit tool 
from a worksheet so I can specify a file name and directory right away without 
ever seeing Standard File.

I hated StdFilePut in Classic and it seems worse in OS neXt.

But then BareBones has removed some of the choices I like to preserve anyway. 
Even a Finder copy loses stuff now.
