Maybe we could help if you explain yourself more.

The answers you've been given relate to what's up with file icons -- if
an icon is from a browser, then when you double-click the icon, the file
will open in that browser; if the icon is one from BBEdit, then the file
will open in BBEdit. We told you how to change a file's icon by
manipulating its "open with" setting -- and how this applies to the
setting for all files of a certain extension or type.

So, given your rejection of this advice, and your statement above,
>>>Nevertheless, it should carry the icon of my default browser
>>>when saved.
we're left wondering what your problem is. Either you misunderstand
something very basic about file icons or everyone who has offered help
has misunderstood your question.

Perhaps you could try again. Was what you say you want happening up to
some point, and then stopped happening? What behavior do you want from
.html files?

Hoping for the best,
