What you appear to want cannot be achieved with any existing
version of Mac OSX as far as I know.
You seem to want the icon to be a visual indication of the
purpose of the file rather than a visual indication of what
program will launch when the icon is double clicked. There are a
variety of ways to change which program is associate with a file
(the program that will launch when the icon is double clicked).
But there are no ways currently existing to separate program
association and program launching when the icon is double clicked.
