I took the unused hd out of my wifes machine and placed it in the primary slot of mine, reinstalled vista from the recovery dvd and reflashed the bios.
The system still does not have the device listed. I do not understand how the bridge could just disappear without some kind of catastrophic failure of the main board. I mean if it was a module problem then reverting back to the previous working kernel the problem should have gone away. Every other component is working flawlessly.
