I think, however, you misunderstood his comments. ;) I agree with Mike, that by definition a vendor-unsupported driver can never be as good as a vendor-supported driver at a certain time in general. However, there are cases where the vendor-unsupported driver might be _better_ than the vendor-supported driver.
