I'm also using IEE802.11g for my Internet Information Center. They are 
over 7 miles and uptime is 98%

What I wanted to say above that I went through some experiments like 
Dekko. Dekko just set a grid antenna and connect it to a PCI 802.11b 
WiFi card. That is what I tested and faild. I used 100 mWatt 20dBm 
access point. But it didn't work. :(
