For what it's worth, Alan, I use essential oils (in small amounts) in 
sprays and in protein patty receipes that I use to feed my bees, to 
suppress mites.  The bees are fine and healthy, and I assume that the mites 
are not.  I use wintergreen, peppermint, just a bit of thyme and oregano oils.
