FWIW, https://beancount.github.io/ still says v3 "is unstable and you want to use version 2 below". And https://beancount.github.io/docs/installing_beancount.html says it is instructions for installing v2. Also I tried following the "Installing for Development" instructions there, running git clone, then `sudo python3 setup.py develop` and `python3 setup.py build_ext -i` and this produced a broken install.
