Not so, I believe. BIS accounts will need to be told the PIN of the new device
and all Service Books pushed to it. If you have password policies you may not
be able to use the old password on the new device.

Activations will never wipe a Blackberry unless a) IT policy will conflict or
b) you choose to when it prompts you.

Cheers

Richard

That's not correct for the 8800 - An activation will NOT wipe the 8800. You'll
need to manually wipe it first, then activate.

You are correct with your assumptions about the new bold - everything should
carry over with the activation.

The execs are getting the newer BOLD devices and turning theirs in so another
staff person can get the older device.
I would like to be able to hand the VP a new BOLD with some of their old setup
intact - like having their password carry over and any BIS setup carryover to
the new BOLD from old 8800. Is it possible?
I think I'd have to use the first option I stated below for this to happen for
the BOLD.
For the 8800, a new user would be activated. So, I get the fact I wouldn't have
to wipe it - an activation would take care of it.

Why even wipe the old one until it was necessary to clean it off? Once you
activate the new one with the carrier its as good as gone as far as bes is
concerned.

This is a benefit of BES...

I think there are 2 ways to do it:

1) Wipe old HH device but leave BES user setup & activate new device

2) Delete user from BES and re-create user & activate new device

Which way is considered Best Practice?
