I tried the System install option. It failed with 'Create folder failed:
"C:\Program Files\j602"' There was never a request for confirmation. Windows
Explorer shows no such file or directory, even with all hiding options turned
off in Folder Options. DOS DIR shows nothing. I tried a Unixish LS DOS command
and it showed C:\Program Files\J602. So did J601 1!:0 'c:\program files\*':
j602│2007 12 2 6 9 1 │0 │rw-│----d-
However, it does not seem to be a functional directory as I could not CD to it
in the CMD window.
If I start the J602c install with "Run as Administrator", the System install
works fine.

I missed the note on the uninstall steps. You might want to consider
putting that note on the first install page. That way folks who go to
rerun the install to do an uninstall, in Windows inimitable style, would
see the message and take appropriate action.
I'm running on an AMD Turion 64 X2 Tl-56 with 2G memory and Vista Home
Premium. I turned off Indexing and the reinstall time dropped to 40
seconds. I turned off the McAfee real time protection services and it
dropped to 20 seconds.
J601 took 30 seconds for the unzip portion of the install (in the same
configuration as the 20 second 602 install). It took an additional 5-10
seconds for the final steps, mainly responding to the various windows.
Thanks,

Currently the J installer does not set any registry entries and so
does no appear in uninstall programs. I would like to stick to not
using the registry if possible. The last install page does say:
Uninstall: delete J folder and program group.
Can't imagine why it took 120 seconds. Is the timer number ticking up
all that time? All it is doing is unzipping the install zip file and
on any modern system this should only take about 20 seconds (although
it is a bit slower if it is a reinstall).
The unzip program we distribute with J in tools is a bit slower than
pkzip and winzip but not that much. How long does a 601 install take
on that same system?

There is a new version of j602cbeta_win.exe that makes it easier to

I have slowly become more comfortable with the curious behavior of
Program Files in Vista and it is practially a first class citizen in
the current version.
The nasty anomolies that bothered me go away as long as the
installer and JAL insist on running as admin if the install is in
Program Files. This version of the installer does that and there
will be hooks that allow JAL to also insist on admin.
The new install with the Standard option seemed to work fine,
although it took about 120 seconds. I went to see if I could
uninstall it and reinstall using the System option.
I couldn't find any entry for J602 in Uninstall Programs in Vista.
Is there another way to uninstall J602?
