I have shortcuts on dozens of machines that launch my applications.
The shortcut starts C:\J\j.exe. Obviously, I don't want to have
to go around changing all the shortcuts every time a new release
comes along, so I always install J into C:\J (or C:\Jbeta while
testing - I have shortcuts for that too).

It hurts that you are moving j.exe to \bin, as I will have to
update the shortcuts to reflect that. But I have hope that
you won't be changing the directory structure every release, so
I would still like to be able to give the root folder name.
Agreed that 'at some point the J System needs to dictate
folder names', I just don't see why this point should be the J root
folder. The code seems to work with the folder moved, so why not
put it where I tell you to?

I guess the point is that you envision a setup where users have
j601, j602, etc directories, and that's just not how I want to run.
