This is good advice, so I uninstalled the 5/27 nightly and installed the 5/23 nightly. I'm now having a different problem though. It doesn't really seem to start and I can't access the web page. Slimserver thinks it's starting OK, but when I look at the processes, there's no slimserver process listed. Additionally, there is no log file.

How do I go about troubleshooting this type of problem?

The latest revisions of the 6.5 trunk are extremely unstable. If you
want to run 6.5, install SVN and go back to a revision no later than
7499. Or, if working with nightlies, you'd want the 5/23/06 nightly,
which is r7494.

The entries in the pref file that I've been using for MySQL are simply
those shown below, with "slimserver" the name used for both my MySQL
database and the MySQL user account for SlimServer. I'm not sure how
SlimServer could know the name of the database that you create
otherwise.

dbpassword: ************
dbsource: dbi:mysql:dbname=slimserver
dbusername: slimserver

Like the wiki says, you'll need to create an empty database in MySQL,
then create a user, then give that user all permissions to access the
new database. That should be all you need to do. SlimServer will
automatically create the database when it starts, and then will begin
scanning immediately.
