Is it best to allow SlimServer to create and use this custom tuned instance? I
read the announcement and thought it would be better to install MySQL and get
slimserver to use my installation. Then I could control where the DB went, so
I would know what to backup and could connect into it to run my own queries.

However, if it will be a tuned instance, is this likely to perform much better
than my own instance?
