>Also, adding this feature will be a highly impactful change. Pretty >much every query, driving every user interface would be affected. > I don't think it will be, if it is done as a plugin. Ultimately the best place to do mulit-library support is intrinsically within Slimserver, but it doesn't look like that will happen for the foreseeable future.
I emailed erland, suggesting improvements to his custom browse plugin "Browse libraries" mode, which is why this multi-library/user question has been resurrected again. The changes would be contained within the plugin; the plugin would probably generate a new table(s) that define each library and tracks associated with each library. Only erlands wonderful plugins would use this extra information. >Personally, I think it is feature well worth having. It would solve >roommate and family issues, and provide an effective way to segment even >a single library (classical/rock, spoken word/music, kids/teens/adult, etc.) > It's the biggest thing that I miss about Slimserver. User profiles would be the second biggest thing (so that my wifes listening habbits don't polute my lastFM recommendations!).
