Hi Doug, > Upgraded from the 10/31 to the 11/03 build. I noticed that the > installer asked for my user id and password again.
Don't enjoy it too much - we'll remove it again. The dialog was too confusing. But your questions are still good and valid: > 1) Does it need to ask again? If the service is already setup, that > is? That's a point I'll have to test first. I'd like the user not to have to care about it every time he upgrades. Finding out if and how it can be done is my job for next week :-). > 2) How would an automatic update work in this scenario since it can't > ask for a user ID and password, right? (If the answer to 1 is yes). Correct. I plan on stopping the service before replacing the binary (if it's to be installed in the same place), not removing the service. This should leave the settings in place. BTW: if you plan to update your installation regularly you could probably do this by downloading the ZIP file instead of the installer and run "squeezecenter.exe --install ..." from the update script.
