Sorry, I discovered this last night, as I run from SVN, and entered a bug
report having worked the above out for myself.
I have copied my prefs folder into the new location and things seem okay.
However, I thought I'd look in the server.prefs and check what file paths I
have pointing at the old installation location. I've found:
disabledirsets:
- P:\Music\SlimServer\beta\server\IR\jvc_dvd.ir
irmap: P:\Music\SlimServer\trunk\server\IR\Custom.map
cachedir: P:\Music\SlimServer\beta\server\Cache
So, I think I should change cachedir as part of the manual migration. Do I
change the path, or can the cachedir line be removed to use the default
location?
I am wondering about irmaps - I assume these should be in the new location too?
Note also that the help page Technical information/Button mapping would then
also need updating to refer to the new location.
This setup does mean that it isn't as easy for two different servers to be set
up by installing different versions in different folders, as by default they
would share the same prefs, log and cache.
Is it possible to configure an alternative base folder for user data? I know
the server can be started with --prefsdir --cachdir and --logfile, but would
there be merit in a single --userdir instead?
Phil
