An important notice to the Windows users of the SC7 Beta: please read
the following before installing the latest nightly build.

Following the many discussions about service vs. application mode we
changed the way SqueezeCenter is run on Windows. This not only changes
the default startup behaviour, but the location of settings file etc.
as well. So here are the details:

Installation:
- SC is now run as an application by default ("start at login")
- Startup mode isn't changed during updates. If SC/SS was run as a
service, it will continue running as a service.
- A "Service Enabler" tool and documentation will be provided to
configure SC to run as a service, including run as a service with the
user's permissions.

Configuration files, cache folder etc.:
- We're now following Microsoft's conventions for storing data. This
means we're no longer going to store changing data (configuration, DB,
cache...) inside the installation folder.
- Old paths:
Vista: c:\ProgramData
XP/2000: c:\program files\squeezecenter\server
- New paths:
Vista: c:\ProgramData (unchanged)
XP/2000: C:\documents and settings\all users\application
data\squeezecenter
- the new values are Windows' default values for shared data used by
applications ("common appdata") read from the registry

Upgrade path:
- If you're updating from SS6 to the latest SC7 you should be fine. The
configurations should be migrated seamlessly.
- If you're updating from an earlier SC7 beta version, then I'm sorry:
there's no automatic migration.
- If you're in the latter group and don't want to start from scratch:
after the installation shut down SC7, copy the existing prefs folder
from the program folder to the aforementioned place. Please note that
we recommend NOT to do this, as it might leave SC7 in a mixed state
which might break future development.

With these changes we hope to at last get rid of the many issues we've
encountered regarding permission issues. Some of them were even
necessary to get SC to run on Vista at all.

Please do some thorough testing. Thanks in advance!
