I realized after thinking about it that I had forgotten about the other half of the fix. For some reason, the Microsoft Windows Firewall on your Windows XP machine is now preventing access to the TCP and UDP ports required to run SqueezeCenter. I never figured out why it just happened to do that one day -- maybe some Windows update changed the firewall settings. Nevertheless, an error message never appears from SqueezeCenter -- it never displays anything on the screen and stays as a running process. There might be something in a log somewhere, but I don't know where. I never found the solution myself -- I had one of the Slim Devices Customer Support team come to my laptop and fix the problem in about 10 seconds. The solution is in the FAQs here: http://www.slimdevices.com/su_faq.html Here's a cut and paste of the FAQ solution: Windows: Windows XP Service Pack 2 turns on a built-in firewall by default. You will need to configure the firewall to allow access to Slim Server. To do this: 1. Go to Control Panel 2. Click Security Center 3. Click Windows Firewall under 'Manage security settings for:' 4. Click the Exceptions tab You will then need to add three exceptions for these ports by clicking 'Add Port...': * Port number: 3483 (TCP) - Name: SlimServer Control * Port number: 3483 (UDP) - Name: SlimDiscovery * Port Number: 9000 (TCP) - Name: SlimServer Web This happened to me, and I think that what you're seeing.
