Hi, I originally commented a bit in the seeking bug reports #1592 and #3809 and am super excited to see progress being made on both accounts. I've been demoing out the nightly builds of 7.1 and I think the new scanner works very well! However, I do have some feedback (some of which might be duplicated from my comments in the bug reports) and hope that it might positively influence SC development.
1) Being able to hear audio when seeking is imperative. Will this be supported? 2) Ideally the seek transitions would be instantaneous, that is as soon as the FF/RW button is released playback commences immediately or vice versa, as soon as the button is held, seeking starts. Right now there is a significant pause in either case. 3) The scanner bar should only be visible while the seek buttons are being held. Currently it stays on the SqueezeBox display for quite some time afterwards; it's annoying to have to press more buttons to get rid of it. It should disappear/appear as soon as the button is released/pressed. Obviously, I guess only SqueezeBox owners will care about this one. 4) Seeking across tracks: it'd be great to be able FF through a track and seamlessly starting seeking in the next track (or RW and go through the previous track). This would be just how a CD player operates. Can this be supported? Basically, the above four suggestions are trying to make SC seeking work identically to a good CD player. That might be the one thing I actually miss about CDs. As for acceleration, I'm not a fan of it as it makes hard to stop at a desired point. It would be a nice addition to be able to change the multiplier of the linear seeking, preferably from the remote. That said, I could live without it and am much more concerned with the above list. What does everyone else think? best, Tim -- ctm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ctm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17698 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47250 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
